Street Supremacy, also known as simply Shutokou Battle (首都高バトル, lit. Metropolitan Expressway Battle) in Japan, is the first, and so far only, handheld entry in the Shutokou Battle of street racing games (not counting Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Advance) set on the Shuto Expressways of Japan. Released in 2005 and 2006 for the PlayStation Portable, it was developed by Genki and published by Konami in Europe and North America.

Unlike other Shutokou Battle series titles, the objective of Street Supremacy is to join a team, level up to become the team leader, recruit other rivals to join your team, and to take control of the various highways in Tokyo.

As such, when the player takes responsibility for leading the team, invading a particular area and poaching the rival team's members to joining the player's team will decrease the rival team's "domination" in a particular area, allowing an opportunity for a "Team Battle", which is a 5v5 team war where whoever defeats all five members of a particular racing team wins the aforementioned battle and takes over the area in question.

The map area consists of the areas featured in Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3, including the C1 Loop, Shinkanjou, Wangan Line, Yokohane, and Yokohama routes. Each route is broken up into several zones, which are controlled by the rival teams. The game is complete once all areas have been conquered.

Rival teams in Street Supremacy include Rolling Guy, Fine Drive, Galaxy Racers, The Road of Justice, Shinsen-Gumi, Departures, No Loser, Highway Outlaw, R.R., Free Way, Another Star, Unlimited, Neo Limited, Speed Master, and Wanderers.

Wanderers this time around can be raced at any time at will, however, they will still have their usual requirements before joining the player's team.

Some bosses from the other titles appear in Street Supremacy as Wanderers by default. Street Supremacy is the only Shutokou Battle series title where rivals can change teams during the game and teams can disband during the game, with the members of the disbanded team forced to join the ones that defeated them.

Localization differences[]

Trivia[]

  • This is the first game in the series to feature nitrous.
  • Apart from Kaido Battle 2: Chain Reaction, this is the second (and last) game in the series to be published by Konami.
    • Certain car models are reused from the aforementioned game.
